Established by Steve and Karen McGowan in 1991, Safety Rails Australia is a
family business which has grown from an idea to a fully-fledged company, now employing 11
staff and servicing an international market. Managing Director Steve McGowan has worked in the disabled aides care industry since 1985 and brings to his company a strong awareness of the challenges faced by people with physical limitations. This knowledge, combined with the skill of designers and engineers who recognise the requirements of builders and architects, ensures Safety Rails Australias products are innovative and appropriate while meeting safety standards and building regulations. From its modest beginnings, Safety Rails Australia quickly grew to supplying builders and architects Australia-wide, and in 1994 broke into the export market supplying safety rails to Japan. Within a year this export market had expanded to include suppliers in Singapore and Malaysia with much of the work coming through personal recommendations from existing clients. Safety Rails Australias products are manufactured from Australian-made tubular stainless steel to standard specifications or custom-formed to the requirements of an individual building design. All products are manufactured in Australia with the entire process from design to completion being undertaken in-house at Safety Rails Australias premises in Glenroy, Victoria. The product range includes stainless steel accessories, grab rails, bed screen track and shower seats. Many of the products designed
and manufactured by Safety Rails Australia (eg folding shower seats and assisted WC and
shower rails) have now been accepted as standard fittings for nursing homes, elderly care
facilities and hospitals. Safety
Rails Australia Australian designed, Australian made, for Australian architects and
builders.
